Education

In this article we cover multiple questions like: What are Microgreens, What are Functional Foods and Why Brassicas microgreens are so good for us.

WHAT ARE MICROGREENS?

Microgreens are baby vegetable/herb plants that are 10-25 days from germination. These delectable plants contain all the essential nutrients to produce mature adult plants. The brassica family of microgreens are especially supportive of wellness and include broccoli, kale, cabbages, kohlrabi, mustards, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, to name a few.

WHAT ARE FUNCTIONAL FOODS

Foods containing elevated levels of active bio-compounds can enhance wellness and provide health benefits beyond basic needs. These foods can add protection from chronic disease.

New research continues to emerge from the laboratories across the world that study the health benefits of microgreens and their bio-compounds. Clinical trials on the active bio-compounds are also becoming common, which aim to link the theoretical, institutional positive health benefit documented with populations that are struggling with disease.
